DASH Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of Dachshunds and small breed dogs in need. DASH completely vets all dogs before they are adopted. That means they are altered, brought up to date on all vaccines, Heartworm tested (treated if positive) and placed on Heartworm preventative. If they need dental cleanings or extractions, that is also done. Any known medical conditions are treated. You can understand that this is not inexpensive. Shelters normally charge a pull fee to release a dog, so there is another expense. Our continued success is dependent on donations from the public. All donations (100%) go to the care of the dogs we rescue. All of our members are volunteers and take no money in return for their work with this dedicated organization. Typical Vetting Costs:
As a rescue we rarely find a vet who will give a discount on services. The costs of vetting can be astronomical. Below are some examples of the costs to care for our rescues:
Office Exam - $51.00
Spay - $167.00
Neuter - $133.00
Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper/Parvo & Bordetella) - $ 55.00
Dental - $150.00 - $350.00
Heartworm test - $25.00
Heartworm Treatment (if positive) - $250.00
Other medical concerns (surgery, treatment of mange, etc.) - $200.00 - $3,000.00
Other Expenses:
Pull fees from shelters - $25.00 - $150.00
Transport fees - $225.00 - $350.00 or $75.00/crate
